India Business Forum Executive Committee Roundtable Meeting

    1. The 3rd Executive Committee Roundtable meeting of the India Business Forum (IBF) for the year 2020 was hosted by the Consulate General of India, Frankfurt on 24 August 2020.  Senior representatives from Indian and German companies participated in the roundtable meeting.
    1. A presentation by Dr. Andreas Widl, Chief Executive Officer, Samson AG, was the highlight of the roundtable. Dr. Widl was accompanied by Dr. Dominic Thilo Deller, Member of the Executive Board of Samson AG dealing with Finance, Controlling, Human Resources, and Legal Affairs. Samson AG is a prominent German multinational company, specialized in control valve technology and has a significant presence in India.
    1. Dr. Andreas Widl informed about Samson’s operations in Germany and India. He explained that Samson AG has a focus on digitization from the past 5 years and the company is combining the valve technology with self-diagnostics, sensors, AI along with developing algorithms to anticipate functioning or malfunctioning of a valve. He elaborated that combining valve technology with digital technologies like AI would help the companies identify the exact cause of deviations, which would lead to efficient root-cause analysis.
    1. Dr. Widl also informed about the future strategy of Samson for the Indian market inter alia to produce locally in India and supply the products to the Indian market, which is in consonance with the Make in India initiative.  During the discussion that followed Dr. Widl's presentation, Consul General and other members of the IBF Executive Committee suggested various options for the expansion of Samson’s presence in the Indian market.
    1. Consul General Dr. Amit Telang applauded the work and role of IBF Executive Committee, especially in strengthening bilateral trade and economic cooperation between India and Germany while underlining the need to explore Indo- German joint collaborations as a win-win template for future cooperation including under PM Modi' 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' initiative.
